Skyview Tower : 360 Degree View Of Dublin From Up Above In The Sky

“Finding a hidden gem is always exciting. And when you least expect it, mind blowing.”

That’s exactly how we felt when we chanced upon this treasure in Stoneybatter, Dublin.

Skyview Tower, also known as Generator Viewing Tower, offers a 360-degree view of the whole of Dublin from up high in the sky.

Skyview Tower

A light stroll up through the streets of Stoneybatter while we were waiting for our bus led us to this amazing brick tower. This structure which seems to have been there for many years looks like part of the history of Ireland.

“Skyview tower offers a 360 degree view of the whole of Dublin from up high in the sky.”

The building of this red brick tower was completed in 1895. Though other modern structures have been constructed around it, this beauty seems to have withstood all the changes happening surrounding it.

What Is The Exact Name Of This Viewing Tower?

To reach this place, you will have to enter Skyview Tower on your maps. While some refer to it as the Smithfield Chimney, Generator’s Skyview Tower, and so on.

This tower is just beside the hotel, Generator Dublin. The tickets to this Viewing Tower is sold in the lobby of this hotel.

“We just have to pay 5€ to enjoy this 360 degrees view of Dublin. Cool, right!”

How High Is It?

It’s 170 ft high. The next important question would be, “so how much do we have to pay to enjoy this 360 degrees view of Dublin?”

5€ per person. Can you believe it?

“The only catch : you have to walk up 244 steps via a circular staircase.”

So it’s light on the pockets but heavy on the fitness part. But once you reach the top, relax, enjoy, and see all the sights of Dublin city all at once. Sights that you have wanted to see for a long time or those that you have already visited.

“There are 2 levels of observation deck at the top.”

The Guinness Storehouse, Jameson Distillery, the Dublin mountains, St. Patrick’s cathedral, and the Spire, are just some of the many beauties that you can see. The ariel view of course.

“Sights that you have wanted to see for a long time or those that you have already visited from up above 170 ft.”

You would not get confused too, as they have named the views on the glass you see through.

Glad to have chanced upon this 170 ft high Skyview Tower. And to let you all know about this makes it extra special for us.
